Terren O'Dell at Hangtown

First off I want to say that I am proud of Terren and rode amazing.  The weekend started off great during practice.  Terren went out in the B practice and turned the fastest lap with a 2:17.  I figured that's awesome he's killing it and then the A practice came out and Grant turned a 2:10.  I was like Holy crap these guys are moving.  Well as it turned out Grant was the only 2:10 and the rest of the guys were about 2:12, 2:13, and then after top 10 they were all around Terren's time.  Second B practice was much slower with a 2:20 but so was everyone else's so we ended up sitting 30th overall making the show which was our goal for round 1.

Now the exciting part.  We rolled down in to staging and as we were sitting there Dungey, Reed, Grant, and Townley rolled up.  Now I'm not star stricken because I know most these guys but as they lined up next to Terren I thought "wow here we are, this is what the goal has been all along and we're here".

Qualifying 30th our gate pick wasn't great but he made the best of it.  After turn 1 Terren was about 15th and charging.  It was wide open for the first 3 laps and Terren came to the inside of Nick Wey at the top of the hill and Nick cut town causing Terren to T-Bone him and go over the bars.  Nick dragged his bike a little bit down the hill before it got untangled and Terren was in Dead last.  He got up and charged hard back to 33rd with an impressive ride for the first moto.

Moto 2 was entirely different.  After getting a pretty good start I was counting as they came down the hill to see where he was and he was sitting 8th with Reed and Langston in front of him and Chilsom Wey and Hahn behind him.  3 laps later Reed and Langston in front of him and Chilsom and Wey were behind him.  We were pumped to say the least.  On about lap 7 Reed and Langston were still in front and Chilsom and Wey had gotten around him but he was still in a battle.  This is the point where Terren realized he had been WIDE open for 15 minutes and the cross flags came out telling him there were 15 more to go haha.  After only having a few weeks to prepare for the season and 2 days on this bike fatigue started to set in and slowly but surly faded to 22nd.  I know 22nd doesn't sound all that impressive but to me it was.  It was an awesome learning experience and I think he will get better every weekend.  It motivated him to train harder and just get better and better.  I don't know what a 33-22 gave him overall but I know there were only 40 guys that made the race and 60 that didn't so I'm pleased and now think he should be inside the top 20 the first half of the season and I'll be looking for top 15 and to even sneak inside the top 10 at least once before the seasons over.

Congrats Terren we're here
